At least 10 workers were on Sunday injured in a mine blast, at a construction site in Mumbra in the district.
The incident occurred at the site of private construction company – Runwal – in Betavade village near Diva Agasan, said Thane police Public Relations Officer Gajanan Kadbule.
A worker executed the blast but failed to alert his co-workers, police said.
The mine blast was being carried by the construction firm since the past two months as a part of the digging work to lay the foundations (for the building), he added.
As many as 10 workers sustained injuries and condition of two of them was stated to be serious, the PRO said.
The injured have been admitted to private hospitals – Apolo & Neptune and a case of negligence under relevant sections of IPC was registered, police said, adding investigations were underway.
