The Anti Human Trafficking Cell rescued two minor girls and arrested their mother for pushing them in the flesh trade in Munirpada area of Shilphata.
Acting on a tip-off, police on September 8 raided premises in Daighar and arrested two women, including the mother of the girls for allegedly running a brothel, with the help of a non-government organisation.
The victims aged 16 and 17 respectively were rescued from the place and sent to remand home.
The police also recovered Rs 4,000 and 2 mobile phones from the accused.
A case under relevant sections of IPC, the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POSCO) 2012 has been registered.
